Program

Our counsellors provide a confidential conversation in a safe and judgement-free environment, working with people's strengths, abilities and interests to find and implement solutions.

There are no restrictions or specific requirements; we have the experience to help with a wide range of issues:

  • Risk of using violence (domestic, family or other)
  • Experience of domestic, family or sexual violence as child or adult
  • Other trauma
  • Mental health - depression, anxiety, grief and loss
  • Social isolation and loneliness
  • Relationships and separation
  • Parenting and other family issues
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Housing issues
  • Unemployment
  • Workplace problems

We support women and family members who have concerns about men in their lives too.

Criteria

Men who live in the ACT and region, and their families and partners.

Process

Appointments

People wanting to make an appointment for themselves can call us direct on 02 6230 6999.

Referrals

Referrals can be made by other agencies or professional service providers using our general referral web form.

Time

Each session is approximately 1 hour long.

Appointments are dependent on need - there is no limit to the number of times you can see a counselor.

Don't know where to start? Call us to talk through the referral process. Requests for appointments will be considered, subject to waiting lists and capacity.

Waiting Lists

There can be waiting lists for our counselling services. Requests for counselling are reviewed on a weekly basis so we can prioritise on the basis of need. Please call to ask about vacancies.

Cost

We provide our counselling services free of charge, but our clients often want to make a voluntary contribution in appreciation of the service they have received. People often aren't sure how much to offer, so we suggest $1 per $1000 of annual income, or $15 if you have a Health Care card, but if you prefer to give something different, that's fine - have a talk to your counsellor.

We put everything you give us straight back into providing more counselling services, and because we're a registered charity, your contributions are tax-deductible donations. Don't forget to keep your receipts.
